World Vegan Month

Posted on 16 Nov 2020

2020 has been a tumultuous year, somewhat overshadowed by Covid-19. But the decade began with forest fires in Australia, continued with deadly floods and landslides in South East Asia, and recently Joe Biden trounced Donald Trump, becoming the new president-elect. These events may seem unrelated, but they arguably have one common denominator: climate change.

Over the pandemic, we’ve seen a significant decrease in pollution levels as people seldom travelled and emissions have fallen as factories were forced to shut. On the other hand, medical waste increased tenfold and the sheer quantity of food, namely meat and dairy items, discarded has been horrific. It begs the question: Should we make the transition to a more plant-based diet? It’s been shown that meat and dairy production in it’s current state is having a disastrous effect on the environment and climate change, using vast amount of water and land, and contributing immensely to pollution levels.

This month is World Vegan Month and ‘Charm’ is celebrating it by posting their favourite vegan recipe on Instagram every Sunday night this November. We invite you to join us with a vegan meal once in a while!
