Are soft robotics only about materials — or can architecture do more? This talk will show how the architecture of soft robotic grippers can be used as a powerful design tool to tailor and enhance their performance. By integrating mechanical metamaterials, whose behavior is governed by geometry rather than material alone, soft grippers can achieve tunable deformation and superior grasping performance compared to conventional designs. This talk highlights how structure, not just softness, is shaping the future of soft robotics.
